Website Exercise 3 - Doubling and Tripling in all Modes

Description: These structured exercises will enable you to hear doubling and tripling when translating melodies you hear into finger movement. All the exercises are the same, they are just applied over different modes. The seven modes are Ionian, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Miolydian, Aeolian and Locrian.

Prerequisites: The basic prerequisites for these exercises are Lesson 1 and Lesson 2.

Exercise The R & L hand symbols apply for the entire line, follow the rise > and fall < symbols. The symbol >< means rise up the pattern from left to right, then down the pattern from right to left having the same finger placements.

Instructions: Note doubling exercises. It is the same exercise as above however you are now doubling the notes. Going up from left to right, going down from right to left. Doubling is used in many songs of all genres. You are also developing your ear to hear the sound of doubling so you can recognise it when you're working out melodies.
