Mission and philosophy
To create the gold standard in teaching music. To accomplish this mission, The Akousunesis School of Music is taking a consistent systematic approach in learning and teaching. A fine balance is accomplished between theoretical knowledge and practical skill to empower students and improving their piano performance, improvisation and compositions. To reduce theoretical complexity and develop a standard systematic approach in understanding musical concepts. The primary focus is to listen with understanding, hear intervals within a modal tonality and placing the sound within a modal context using a well-defined consistent language.
The Akousunesis method takes an objective look at current teaching methods to develop innovative ideas and tools to help students. Music theory becomes complicated very quickly, the Akousunesis method's innovative ideas are designed to simplify the delivery of this information, such as our use of pure modal scales and altered diatonic chords are a powerful tool for improvisation and composition.
A good teacher is also a good student and never stops learning, here we're also learning how to teach. This school will always promote good ideas and teaching methods; any improvement suggestions are welcome. This school must be accessible to anyone who wants to learn music, this is why your able to find the lessons right here on the website and YouTube channel. This school will never be held back by ineffective old methods of teaching or mandated curriculum, we'll always be innovative, discovering new ways to teach music. The school is open to all styles of music, we're not elitist, as long as students are willing to work hard, drop the ego and focus on improving their craft and connecting with the music.
Teaching how to connect with music, emotionally and becoming closer to God, by releasing the ego and focusing on the music, rather than being obsessed trying to impress others with your greatness. By focusing on what you hear, rather than what you see and who to impress, you'll naturally become a better player making the journey more enjoyable.

History
History
The Akousunesis Method is a system I've developed over many years as a musician playing piano. I've collected all my ideas into my book, 'The Secrets To Playing Music By Ear - The Akousunesis Method'. The focus is teaching the skills I've developed and to leave a legacy for my two daughters. I continue to refine and develop new ideas for my students to improve their learning experience.
The school was established in September 2025, launching the website and YouTube channel. Lessons are created on the website, and video lesson presentations are created and linked together.
All future innovations will be explored here on the Akousunesis website and my book will be updated accordingly.
I look forward working with you for a brighter musical future.
How I decided on a name for my method
How I decided on a name for my method
I was originally considering naming my method after myself, but it didn't feel right for some reason. I decided to choose a name to described my method, and because I'm of Greek heritage, I wanted the name to be Greek, then suddenly these two words appeared in my head and described my method perfectly.
The Akousunesis Method
Akou: In Greek means to listen.
Sunesis: (σύνεσις) In Greek refers to understanding or insight specifically the ability to mentally and spiritually connect and comprehend information.

I'm looking for a location with access to many potential students who wish to learn piano using the unique Akousunesis methods. If you wish to become an investor and able to supply such a location, a percentage deal per student is one option. The location needs to be economically viable for The Akousunesis School of Music to thrive. The school is small at the moment but growing fast as I'm an army in one man and completely unstoppable. I'm not interested in half hearted investors, you're either all in with the vision or forget it.
Non investors who wish to get involved, I'm open to improvement suggestions and new ideas. The Akousunesis School of Music will always welcome anyone who loves learning to play music, we're always going to be high class, but never elitist and always innovative. The school is not against traditional ways of learning but we need to look objectively at these methods and not emotionally, leave the emotion for your piano performance. Love and respect your tradition, but don't be stuck in the past if it's not beneficial for your peoples cultural survival.

My personal belief
I believe in seeking truth and rejecting fear, for me, music is a way to seek truth and connect directly with God. I also believe God is pure consciousness and knowledge, in which we're all connected. I believe God is not of this atomic realm, but a lower level of reality. One way God speaks to us is through the language of music, and by learning to play music, you can speak back. I also see God performing miracles, not directly, by consciously directing nature once you connect, and as we're all part of nature, and with God's good guidance, we can perform God's miracles.
Be the miracle God wants you to be.
