The Traffic Cop

Quick Tip: The notation is not to be used as a visual crutch, you do not want to concentrate on reading melodic rhythm, this will slow down your learning. Melodic rhythm must be heard, not read, first get the notes correct with your fingers and look at your hands.

Quick Tip: Remember, finger placement exercises are NOT to be used as a visual crutch, they are designed to get your memory working and improve your interval recognition.  You also use them to build your own melodic rhythm while you listen to the melody you create.  Rhythm must come from listening, never from a visual crutch, this is one of the secrets to playing by ear.
