The finger numbers have been removed.
The piece of music is in the key of C, all the white notes, from C to high C. This exercise doesn't come out of key. The chords you'll learn today are C major, D Minor and G major, C, Dm, G. We'll introduce the idea of a slash chord. Each time we have a new chord, the intervals are re-referenced from the root of the chord. All the possible intervals in the western music are 1, -2, 2, -3, 3, 4, -5, 5, +5, 6, -7 and 7. The western major scale has the intervals 1 2 3 4 5 6 7, all the white notes in the key of C.
Things you need to know
Semi-Tone is the next note up or down.
Tone is made of two semi-tones, there is always one note in the middle of a tone.
Today you'll learn some interval distances. The good news is you never need to remember these distances, I will teach you how to find them quickly with your real time playing.

Exercise The R & L hand symbols apply for the entire line, follow the rise > and fall < symbols. The symbol >< means rise up the pattern from left to right, then down the pattern from right to left having the same finger placements.
Keyed Modal Scale This gives you the modal context for the exercise increasing your understanding and memorisation of the exercises.
